Today's story is a reminder to us all to step back to take stock in the beauty that is around us each day. We may not all have the opportunity to walk out to our garage to see an assortment of exotic supercars, but most of us at least know we have the time to achieve such a goal.
Time, however, is not something that Byron Parsons-Lloyd has a lot of, having been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer since last January 2010. Byron does not know how much time he has left, but when he was asked by his mother what he would like to do more than anything in the world, he replied he wanted to go for a ride in a $1 million Bugatti Veyron.
Family and friends wasted no time, and went straight to their twitter accounts, messaging anyone they could think of who might be able to help. Peter Jones, star of the television show Dragon's Den, took interest in the boys request, asking Simon Cowell (X-Factor) if he would be willing to lend Byron his Bugatti for the day. Simon agreed, but the car wasn't in the area, so Peter had to think of something else.
A couple more calls, and a luxury car dealer agreed to invite the family down to his showroom where he happened to have a Veyron in stock. The family was picked up by a chauffeur and escorted to the lot, where Byron was given an exclusive tour, which also included an hour long cruise in the Bugatti.
"I can't believe it, this is amazing," muttered Byron as he blasted over the open road at 70 mph.
Live every day with the same zest as if racheting through the gears on a 253 mph supercar, because you just never know when your last ride will be!.
